Supply of structural steel, reinforcement bars, cement, and aggregates to three active road construction sites under Uganda's National Roads Programme — totalling 180 km of new tarmac road across Northern and Western Uganda.
The main contractor faced repeated supply interruptions for structural materials due to unreliable local suppliers and fluctuating import costs. Construction programme delays were incurring liquidated damages risk.
BKI established direct supply agreements with Kenyan and Tanzanian steel mills, pre-positioned cement from two Uganda manufacturers, and managed a dedicated aggregates crushing operation at the largest site. Just-in-time delivery schedules were synchronised with construction programme.
Zero materials-related programme delays across all three sites. Total materials value of $8.4M delivered on schedule. 15% landed cost saving vs. prior supply arrangements.
